Six missing; 36 washed away in flash floods

KHATIMA (UTTARANCHAL), AUG 26 (PTI): At least six persons were missing in flash floods in Kailashu and other rivers in Uttaranchal today even as 36 people who were feared to have been washed away escaped by clinging to trees.

Kumaon Inspector General Vijay Raghav pant said 36 people, mostly labourers, who were earlier missing, were found clinging to trees at Akrouli, Nakulia and other villages inundated by flood water.

Official reports had earlier said 32 labourers were washed away in the floods early morning.
