[India News]: Dehra Dun, Jan 10 : Activists of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) today clashed with police, which used water canons to disperse them as they tried to gherao the assembly house on the opening day of the winter session demanding that Gairsain be made the state’s permanent capital.
As police tried to stop UKD workers’ rally to reach the assembly house, slogan-shouting activists pelted stones and torched the wooden barricades put up there, police said adding, water cannons were used to disperse them. [more]
