Bakhroti in Uttranchal’s Tehri Garhwal, which was considered an ‘ideal village’ way back in 1975, is on the brink of extinction.
Perched atop a hillock, the village was once bustling with four generations of one family for the past 100 years, who re-located to the region from Almora years ago.
Surrounded by a dense forest and a three-kms tedious walk from the nearest road-head, the hamlet is now deserted. Its inhabitants have now moved to the plains in search of jobs.
