DEHRA DUN: Eleven Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) activists were arrested and security around the Virasat festival venue was strengthened after they climbed up the stage and tried to obstruct the ongoing cultural programme on Tuesday evening.
Raising slogans against the organisers and the State Government for having “insulted” the noted folk singer Narender Singh Negi by first inviting him to perform and then refusing to even recognise him when he arrived, the UKD activists threatened to force closure of the festival if local artistes were insulted. The audience also joined the activists in the sloganeering.
