“Villagers from Kameda, Gagotu and Nagrasu valleys in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district have revived 16 drying springs in their areas. Using the isotope technique, villagers — with the help of scientists from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre — tracked the origin and natural recharge zones of the streams, and accordingly, built rainwater harvesting structures to augment the discharge of springs and raise the groundwater level in the arid valleys.”
