GP: Book on condition of Uttarakhand women released

DEHRADUN, 28 Apr: ‘Yamuna’, a book on the condition of women of Uttarakhand undergoing change from 1994 till today was released here today at a function held at the press club.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Haryana ADGP Vikas Narayan Rai. The book has been written by Trepan Singh Chauhan and recounts the important role played by women during the state formation struggle. This has been presented through the character of ‘Yamuna’. But, it has been pointed out that after the formation of the state the status of women has not improved too much and this is felt by Yamuna. The book gives the flavour of the local language, the flora and fauna of the state. It also gives an insight into what changes could come in the near future.

Dr Shekhar Pathak read out a synopsis of the novel on the occasion. The book was released by Vidayasagar Nautiyal.

Present on the occasion were Kamala Pant, Shamsher Bisht, ‘Jan Kavi’ Atul Sharma and others.
