Garhwal Post, 10 January 2008

Dehradun, 9 Jan: On the ninth day of the “Save the Rivers Campaign”, activists in the Mandakini valley addressed two important meetings in Rampur and Tilawara. Women turned up in large numbers to attend these meetings.

The padayatra started from Agyastmuni and went upto Tilwara via Rampur. A gathering of 40 women and 20 men participated in the meeting at Rampur. The meeting began with rendition of motivational songs by the campaigners. One of the speakers in the meeting, Jeevanti Bahen of Himvanti, a pan-Uttarakhand organisation of women, addressed the gathering and exhorted it to fight against the destruction of rivers just as they had fought for the formation of Uttarakhand.
