Mr Vipin Chandra Tripathi, a prominent activist of the Uttarakhand statehood movement of 1990s, died on Monday at his hometown Dwarahaat in Uttaranchal at the age of 56.
A first-time sitting MLA from Dwarahaat in Almora district, Mr Tripathi experienced acute chest pain in the morning. Soon he was taken to a local hospital where doctors could not save his life. Mr Tripathi, who became President of the UKD last year was among its founding members. [more]
