Dehra Dun, February 12: With popular folk singers joining the election fray, campaigning in Uttarakhand seems to be full of melody.
While folk singer Pritam Bhartwan is contesting the polls as a candidate of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) from Dhanolti (reserve) constituency, he is joined by Narendra Singh Negi, another Garhwali singer, who is campaigning for the UKD.
With 24 Garhwali albums to his credit, Pritam wants to be a common man’s legislator. “I want to break the hegemony of the national parties, which do not care about the common people from the hills,” Pritam said. [more]
